Oregon woman pleads guilty in carjacking case

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - An Oregon woman has pleaded guilty to carjacking a man in western Wyoming last year.
Jessica Fritts faces a 30-year prison sentence under the plea agreement with federal prosecutors. U.S. District Judge Nancy Freudenthal (FREE'-den-thawl) on Wednesday set sentencing for Aug. 22.
The 36-year-old Fritts and her husband Roy Fritts were arrested near Echo, Utah, in August following a police chase. Police say they were driving a van belonging to a California man found shot and wounded near Flaming Gorge Reservoir in Wyoming.
Federal prosecutor Jim Anderson says Jessica Fritts' plea agreement hinges on her husband pleading guilty to state charges of attempted murder and grand larceny. Anderson says Roy Fritts faces a state sentence of life without parole plus 8 to 10 years for larceny.
Utah ranks highly on US Chamber economy report

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Utah has earned the most top 10 rankings of any state in a new economic report from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Gov. Gary Herbert told attendees at the chamber's Jobs Summit in Washington Wednesday that the state is friendly to employers and prioritizes job growth. He also praised Utah's educated, multi-lingual workforce.
The Enterprising States report released at the Jobs Summit puts Utah as No. 2 for top future boom states, No. 2 for business birth rate, and No. 2 for export growth.
It also pegs the state as No. 3 in higher education efficiency and No. 10 for higher education degree output.
The report puts Utah in the top five in all three of its job growth measures, including short-term, long-term, and science and technology.

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Police say a man who ran from one of their officers faces assault charges.
According to police, Titus Wright ran from an officer who was responding to an assault report at 331 East South Temple Tuesday afternoon.
Police say the officer took chase and that as Wright was running, he stopped and tried to attack the officer, who used his baton to subdue him.
Wright was booked into jail on suspicion of Assault and Assault on a Police Officer.

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Someone went to a lot of trouble to take a jab at Mike Winder, who is running for the Salt Lake County Mayor's office.
The sign was seen on the corner of Bangerter Highway and 104th South, and Winder himself saw the humor in it, posting a photo of it on his own Facebook account.
Through Facebook, Winder said he does not know who posted the sign.
The 'real' Peter Burwash lives in California, and neither he nor any Richard Burwash is listed as a candidate for the Salt Lake County Mayor's office.
Noticeably absent from the 'Burwash' sign is the GOP 'elephant' symbol.
Winder faces fellow GOP challenger Mark Crockett in the June 26 Utah Primary. The winner will face democrat Ben McAdams in November

Tej also loves her but is reluctant to accept the proposal because of a problem in his family. While he does not want to cheat her by keeping the truth from her, he is scared of losing her if he tells her about his family's problem. His friends try to convince him that every family has some problem so he need not even mention it to Taanya.
Finally, when Tej and Taanya's families meet, there seems to be no problem and the proposal is mutually agreed upon. A grand wedding takes place and Taanya arrives in her sasuraal. The moment of shock come when all the rituals and ceremonies are over and the guests are all gone. Taanya realizes that Tej's household is full of men, just men. All the chachis, mamis, buas etc who attended the wedding had all gone and she was the only woman in the house.
Taanya does not know how to handle this. Though in college days she was never uncomfortable among boys and she grew up with a brother, this was another feeling altogether. A life always surrounded by only men -- all strangers to begin with -- looks unimaginable. She stays put anyways but within twenty four hours she realizes that these men are like pebbles on a beach -- all different from each other and rubbing each other sour. Taanya's despairs as she realizes that she needs to play the warden of a boy's hostel where the boys ranged 60 to 12 in age groups. Taanya gives up, accuses Tej of cheating her by not telling the truth and leaves the house.
She returns to her maternal home, only to find that her brother and bhabhi all packed and ready to leave the house and her mother crying. Taanya's bhabhi does not want to take the responsibility of her in-laws and hence she moves out of the house with Taanya's brother. And before a shocked Taanya can utter a word about her own problem, her mother tells her that a woman, like a needle is supposed to stitch a family together and not break it.
